Giving Women A Choice
Giving Women a Choice is a short documentary directed by Andrea Keating that takes place in Antigua, Guatemala, where the organization Manos Abiertas offers Mayan women an alternative to the traditional paths often dictated by their circumstances. Throughout the film we’re introduced to various women who have had healthcare and maternal problems that haven’t been dealt with well. Through vocational training and community support, these women are empowered to reshape their futures and not have to rely on men and others for their wellbeing. The film captures their journeys with sensitivity and respect, highlighting the transformative power of opportunity and choice. This film is a testament to the resilience and strength of women who, given the chance, can change not only their own lives but also those in their own communities.
