“Der Taucher”, which translates to “The Diver”, is a heart wrenching ballad by the early-17th Century German composer, Franz Schubert. The dark, haunting baritone voice of Tyler Duncan, alongside featured pianist Erika Switzer, tells the harrowing story, written by Friedrich Schiller, of a squire and his downfall at the hands of not only a taunting king, but his own greed. This 24 minute performance expertly hits all emotional points intended by Schiller, and is a necessary experience for any classical ballad lover.
