Schubertiade: “Im Früling

Dance & Music – 14 min

“Im Frühling”, which translates to “In Spring”, is a Lied from early-17th century German composer Franz Schubert, and is set to Ernst Schulze’s poem “On the 31st of March 1815”.  This 13 minute performance features the haunting vocals of soprano Lucy Fitz Gibbon, as well as Ryan McCullough on piano. In select parts of the performance, McCollough sets a somber, melancholy tone with the Harmonium, a hand-pumped organ. Gibbon’s vibrato-laden voice will leave you speechless, expertly guiding you through the peaks and valleys of “Im Frühling”.
