Trois Ballades de Francois Villon – Debussy

Dance & Music – 13 min

Claude Debussy’s “Trois Ballades de François Villon” is a 13 minute voice and piano ballad in three parts about a fictional French poet. The first part is his reaction to the anger that comes with love and ultimately how to live with it, the second is a request from his mother to write a personal version of “Ave Maria” to sing at her church, and the final is the poet’s ode to the women of Paris. Jonathan Comfort’s welcoming baritone voice combines with Szu-Ying Huang’s expert piano playing to put you at the forefront of Debussy’s dynamic, short experience.
